Press Release- Traffic Stop Leads to Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon Arrest

Lindenhurst, Illinois – On February 8, 2024, at approximately 1:04 am, the Lindenhurst Police Department stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation on Rte. 45/Rollins Rd. While officers were talking to the driver, a loaded 9mm SAR CM9 semi-automatic handgun was seen in plain view inside the vehicle. The driver did not have a valid FOID or CCL and was subsequently taken into custody.

Lindenhurst Police Chief Thomas Jones praised the officers for their astute ability to quickly de-escalate the tense situation and take custody of the offender without incident.

Alejandro Taylor, 19, of Round Lake Heights, was charged with four counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon, Improper Lane Usage, and Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
